Your baby is as big as a zucchini

As of tomorrow I will be 30 weeks pregnant. The Bump App tells me my baby is now as big as a Zucchini (or courgette if you like) my baby's skin is getting smoother, but her brain is getting wrinklier to make way for essential brain tissue. Amazingly she is now strong enough to grasp a finger, and if she was to be born today chances are she would survive ... although I plan to keep her cooking for a while longer!

My 28 week blood results are now back and it is showing I am anaemic, which hasn't left me surprised. I am taking iron tablets now twice a day so hopefully before long I will feel a shift in my energy levels. There is certainly no hiding my bump now, and along with the extra weight up front you seem to invite more attention from people, especially strangers. It's funny how people think that they are allowed to grab your stomach because you are pregnant, luckily this hasn't happened too often but I do find it rather uncomfortable when it does. (Maybe I need one of those novelty T-Shirts - HANDS OFF THE BUMP haha) The other thing I have noticed now people are realising I am getting ready to pop is how hell bent some people are on trying to terrify you. I spent a long time trying to get pregnant so nothing is going to take away from my joy but I have had a laugh at the comments I have received just lately. "Get ready never to sleep again" "Your body will never be the same" "You soon won't be able to afford to eat out" it is laughable really how much more negativity I have noticed rather than positivity at this happy time, such a shame.

The nursery is coming along quite nicely now, hubby has done a fantastic job working all day and then coming home and working again to make everything perfect for his little girl. We have gone for a colour palette of pink, grey and gold. Once the carpet is laid we will be able to build up our cot and start arranging things ready for her arrival, I am looking forward to washing all her little clothes and putting them all away ready for her. I still have so much to do the list seems endless, and I would be lying if I said it wasn't a bit daunting. However our NCT classes start very soon and I am hoping after this time I will start to feel more prepared.

Are you pregnant? How are you feeling about the belly grabbing?

  1. Haha, this post made me laugh, I'm only 15 weeks but have had so many of the same things - already 2 bump grabbers and all the comments like 'you'll never be able to eat out again' - I've also had someone saying I'll have to give up my blog as I'll never be able to do it with children. I mentioned the amount of mummy bloggers and they said they must have hired help! Hmm, don't think so! Why are people so negative?
Anyway - your nursery is looking fabulous already, can't wait to see the finished room!

  2. LUCKILY no one has tried to touch my bump yet haha! I'm not too fond of people touching me in general(I sound like a psycho I know) so I'm NOT looking forward to random people wanting to touch my bump haha!
I can't wait to see the nursery! I love the idea of the pink, grey and gold combo! xx
PS how CUTE is your wee pup! x

  3. I'm really confused as to how a baby can be courgette sized? That seems too unproportioned ?! Like wouldn't the baby be really long and thin?! Oh my brain can't get around that one, haha.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE that picture of ralphie in the cot, my heart is melting!!
Your nursery is gonna be so insta worthy too haha
